The Client: James & Ella
A two-day brand shoot for James & Ella, the premium pet food and canine wellbeing company founded by James Middleton.
The brief was to create a versatile visual library to support the brand’s digital platforms and e-commerce channels alongside the launch of new products. The final suite of high-resolution product and lifestyle imagery was designed to scale seamlessly from mobile screens to large-format retail packaging.
The Work
James Middleton’s brand, James & Ella, focuses on high-quality pet products designed for everyday use. I was commissioned for a two-day lifestyle shoot capturing James with his dogs, highlighting their camaraderie and naturally showcasing the products in use.
The shoot aimed to capture genuine, candid moments that feel approachable and authentic, showing James interacting with his dogs in real-life settings. Each image was designed to communicate warmth, trust, and the natural connection between owner, pets, and products.
The session combined lifestyle portraiture with environmental context, using natural light and real spaces to enhance authenticity. From casual morning routines to playful outdoor moments, the images document real interactions and product use without staging, creating imagery that feels personal and relatable. Careful composition and natural light were used to emphasise mood and interaction, keeping the focus on James, his dogs, and the surrounding environment.
Alongside candid lifestyle shots, a selection of composed portraits was captured to provide balance and versatility. These include solo images of James, close-up moments with the dogs, and product-focused frames, producing a visual library suitable for editorial use, social media, marketing materials, and packaging design.
The Deliverables
The final gallery of images featured across James & Ella product packaging, the primary e-commerce site, and digital marketing campaigns. High-resolution files were also provided for printed promotional material and large-format tradeshow displays. Together, the imagery captures the brand’s core values: nature, vitality, and the relationship between people and their dogs — creating a cohesive visual identity that supports ongoing marketing and product launches.
