Hannah Thomas, founder of Herbs & Wild, is a chef based in East Devon. Her brand focuses on seasonal ingredients, foraging, and hands-on cooking. I worked with Hannah to translate her culinary ethos into a cohesive visual narrative.
The Work
The client is Hannah Thomas, founder of Herbs & Wild, a culinary brand rooted in a deep connection to the land and seasonal ingredients. Based in East Devon, Hannah’s approach blends foraging, slow cooking, and natural food experiences into a distinct lifestyle identity. I worked closely with her to translate this ethos into a visual narrative that reflects her grounded, tactile, and vibrant way of working.
This project was a lifestyle, culinary, and brand photography commission designed to capture the Herbs & Wild story — from sourcing ingredients with local producers to cooking outdoors on Sidmouth beach and preparing seasonal dishes. The creative direction focused on an earthy, organic aesthetic that supports the brand’s philosophy of locality, sustainability, and hands‑on craft.
The shoot combined chef portrait photography, candid lifestyle moments, and detailed food and process imagery. Portrait sessions were shot in natural light to convey authenticity and personality, while environmental shots emphasised Hannah’s connection to place, ingredients, and technique. Close‑up food photography was integrated to highlight texture, colour, and the sensory appeal of dishes built around wild botanicals and seasonal herbs.
Working with the natural environment and seasonal light was central to this project. This approach allowed the imagery to feel rooted in real moments rather than staged environments — giving prospective customers and collaborators a genuine sense of the Herbs & Wild experience.
The Deliverables
The final images were produced for a wide range of uses, including website redesign, social media content, and a press kit that supported a feature in British Vogue. The resulting visual library strengthens the Herbs & Wild brand identity, helping communicate Hannah’s culinary vision and lifestyle influence in both digital and print contexts.
